Subject: ~ Rules of Play ~
The main aim of Black Jack is to achieve a total of 21, or as close as possible, without exceeding 21 ( "busting or "breaking" ).

Card Values:

~ Numbered cards represent the value shown

~ Face cards (Jack, Queen, King) represent 10

~ Ace can be either 1 or 11, as the situation requires it.

The dealer deals two cards to him/herself first, one face up ( the "Up card" ) and the second ( the "Hole Card" ) face down. Players will be dealt an initial two cards, and the game begins. You will have five options after these are dealt.

~ Hit: Take another card from the dealer.

~ Stand: Take no more cards.

~ Double: The player can increase their original bet by 100% (i.e. double their bet), in exchange for committing to stand after one more card.

~ Split: ONLY available as the first decision of a hand. If the first two cards have the same value, the player can split them into two hands. They must place a bet equal to the first bet. The dealer separates the two cards and deals an additional card to each, and the player plays the hands accordingly. 21's obtained after a split are counted as non-blackjack 21's.

NOTE: Splitting will only be allowed with same cards. E.g. 10-10 can be split, but not 10-K. Also, for the purposes of these games, A-A will count as a bust and cannot be split.

For the purpose of these games, players will only be allowed to Split once - No resplitting.

In the case of Doubling after splitting, for these games, it will be permitted.

~ Surrender: ONLY available as the first decision of a hand. Players can choose to forfeit their hand if they are not confident with it, and half their original bet will be returned.

The Dealer may not Double, Split or Surrender - only Hit or Stand.

Each hand may Hit as many times as desired, as long as the hand is not above Hard-20 (20 in first two cards). When the last hand has finished being played, the dealer reveals his Hole Card, and stands or draws further cards according to the rules of that game for dealer drawing. Bets on a losing hand are forfeited, bets that are pushed (equal to the dealer) will be returned, and winners will be paid out.

Players with winning hands will be given back their original bet, plus gold equal to their original bet. If a player hits Hard-21, aka Blackjack, they will be paid additional odds in accordance with the rule variations, listed below.

If the dealer's Up Card is an Ace, the player is offered the chance to take Insurance before the dealer deals his Hole Card. Insurance is a side bet that the dealer has Blackjack, and pays 2:1 - that is, $2 for every $1 paid. Insurance is equal to half your original bet, and if the dealer has Blackjack you will get returns equal to your original bet.

~ Rule Variations ~

> Dealer hits Soft 17

Each game has a rule about whether the dealer must hit or stand on Soft 17 (i.e. reaching 17 after 3 cards or more). The dealer must either Hit or Stand, depending on the ruling, which is represented by H17 or S17 respectively. For the purposes of this game, before Blackjack starts, players will vote on which ruling to use for the remainder of the night.

> Number of Decks

All things being equal, using fewer decks decreases the house edge. This mainly reflects an increased likelihood of Hard-21 (Blackjack), since if the players draws a ten on their first card, the subsequent probability of drawing an ace is higher with fewer decks. It also reflects a decreased likelihood of blackjack-blackjack push in a game with fewer decks.

As such, the odds paid for winning Blackjack will differ depending on the amounts of Decks used in the game. Using fewer decks will result in the increased likelihood of a Blackjack, but more decks will result in better payouts. Again, as with the Soft 17 Rule, players will vote as to how many decks are to be used, and that number will remain for the duration of the night.

1 deck = 3:2
2 decks = 3:1
3 decks = 4:1
4 decks = 5:1
5 decks = 6:1
6 decks = 7:1
7 decks = 8:1
8 decks = 10:1

As an example, we will use a bet of 10mil on a winning Blackjack.

10,000,000 Blackjack win with 1 deck pays 15,000,000
10,000,000 Blackjack win with 2 decks pays 30,000,000
10,000,000 Blackjack win with 3 decks pays 40,000,000
10,000,000 Blackjack win with 4 decks pays 50,000,000
10,000,000 Blackjack win with 5 decks pays 60,000,000
10,000,000 Blackjack win with 6 decks pays 70,000,000
10,000,000 Blackjack win with 7 decks pays 80,000,000
10,000,000 Blackjack win with 8 decks pays 100,000,000

(These odds may be subject to change, depending on the amount of funds available)

~ Side Bets ~

Players may make a side bet before each round. If the bet is successful, they will be paid back with odds of 2:1. The available side bets at this moment are as follows:

> Player hand and dealer's up card sum to 19, 20, or 21 ( "Lucky Lucky" )
> Player initial hand is a pair ( "Perfect pairs" )
> Player initial hand plus dealer's card makes a flush, straight, or three-of-a-kind poker hand ( "21+3" )
> Player initial hand totals 20 ( "Lucky Ladies" )
> Dealer upcard is in between the value of the players two cards ( "In Bet" )
> One or both of the players cards is the same as the dealers card ( "Match the Dealer" )

~ Blackjack Tournaments ~

During Blackjack nights, Blackjack Tournaments may be held. Players will be selected to join a game - how many players can be decided at the time, as well as minimum bets - and play will ensue. Every few rounds, the player with the lowest score of that particular round will be knocked out. (Elimination Round! Watch out for these...)

This will continue until we have one or two players remaining. These one or two will move on to the Final Countdown, and the next game will ensue until we have enough players to initiate the Final Countdown. The winner of the Final Countdown will win a prize, to be determined by the Dealer. Tournament winners will be posted in the main post of this thread.

I hope this covers everything. If anyone thinks I've missed anything, post below.
