A couple weeks ago I did a bit of testing to find this out myself.

Half the archers (A in the course) sort of "hide" the terrain in front of them. I don't know the reasoning for it, but it was definitely something that was added intentionally to give people something to figure out.

The numbers only show up the first time you see the course; after your first move, they change into their respective squares.

5 = C (clear course)
4 = B (bat)
3 = P (pigeon)
2 = Nothing. This is just what is put at the end, sort of like closing a tag in HTML. If you have a string of archers, you can't have any 2 in a row that conceal. There will be a 5/4/3 at the left end, and a 2 at the right end.

There are no 1s. An archer cannot "hide" another archer.

That's all there is to it.

I have a hunch that this is also how some people manage to get scores of above 120/36.
