| The players that would win these auctions already have a great deal more in terms of equipment and resources than the players that would benefit most from such items offered. As a newer player I see no way I could ever compete with older players who have way more resources than I do. While it is a part of the game to spend considerable time developing one's character, it is a major discouragement to see the mechanics skewed so heavily toward long term players, instead of incentives to recruit AND retain new players. As an alternative, such a program might be a better fit if there were age categories (i.e. less than 30 days, less than 1 year, etc.). That way players are only competing against players with approximately the potential wealth, and newer players can still access better equipment. |
