| Energy moves toward a thermodynamically favorable state, in this case matter. This will lead to the energy demise of the universe, when total equilibrium is achieved and energy can no longer be transferred to perform work. This state could be thought of as nothing since everything will be perfectly uniform. No life will exist because essential biological processes transfer energy in the form of heat to perform work. Nothing turned into something and will turn into nothing again. Therefore, there is something to achieve nothing. The reverse is also true. |
