You get to set the rules. Our money - we choose when to purchase or not. When the British taxed the colonists they revolted.

I think some discussion and some notice was warranted here. I spend real dollars to get the gold I had. I expected to be able to use that gold to develop my character.

Even after staying away from this issue for a week or so my blood still boils at your arbitrariness.
